A Word about the Artist...

Nature has always been the inspiration behind all of Nami Bittner's paintings and other artwork.

Growing up in central Tokyo, Japan, Nami never felt right about city life. After graduating college with a psychology degree, she had her first exposure to field research in Okinawa, Japan. Studying insectivorous bat species on a subtropical island was a true eye opening experience and it eventually led her to Missoula, Montana to study wildlife biology.

As a field technician, Nami has spent extensive hours observing different animal behavior in a variety of habitats. Every natural environment has its own beauty and she never has forgotten the places like the mangroves in Okinawa; the rain forests in Sumatra, Indonesia; the Olympic Mountains of Washington State; or the salt flats of northeastern Montana. Everywhere Nami Bittner has gone has served as a source of inspiration in her art.

When not creating beautiful paintings or photography, Nami brings her skills to Matson's Lab as a technician.
